Plenty of importers close a purchase and forget it once the invoice is paid. We stay on the shipment until it clears customs and reaches the shelf, because the second order depends on the first one arriving clean and listed in compliance.
We do not take on every brand or every deal. The wrong product or a stalled registration costs the customer far more than our margin. We say no early so we can deliver properly.
Things go wrong: an overseas supplier slips a lead time, a product registration stalls, a currency moves. When that happens we tell the counterparty the same week, not after the goods are stuck. The relationship is built on what we say when it is uncomfortable to say it.
